A Rappahannock County Circuit Court judge Monday dismissed the final charge against attorney James William “Bill” Fletcher III, closing out a string of driving incidents over six months in 2024.
Judge Matthew Snow dismissed a charge of refusal to submit to a blood/breath test after Fletcher completed a period of good behavior and stopped driving, as outlined in a March plea agreement.
Fletcher, who faced multiple traffic violations and charges during the period in 2024, said he had been dealing with “severe health issues” at the time.
In March, Fletcher pleaded guilty to reckless driving. As part of the plea agreement, the court continued the test refusal charge to September, with the understanding it would be dismissed if Fletcher stopped driving and complied with probation.
Fletcher’s attorney, Whitson Robinson, appeared on his behalf Monday and said Fletcher is “getting better physically and mentally” and has not been driving, “not even on the farm.”
Special prosecutor Daniel White of Greene County agreed, saying there was “a run where [Fletcher] couldn’t seem to go a month without some moving violation,” but that is “not the case anymore.”
