The Rappahannock County Farmers’ Market opened for the season Saturday on the Sperryville Schoolhouse lawn, drawing a crowd to its many local vendors. The weekly market will continue through Nov. 21, with 25–30 vendors expected this year.
Plans are in the works to hold once-a-month live music performances.
The market accepts SNAP (formerly food stamps) and participates with Virginia Fresh Match (VFM), a program that basically doubles SNAP dollars to be spent on fresh fruits, vegetables and mushrooms. Customers must come to the market tent to run their EBT card and receive SNAP and VFM tokens.
