Victim: ‘It’s stayed with me’
Defendant: ‘I’m sorry for everything I’ve done’
A Rappahannock County Circuit Court judge last Thursday sentenced a Washington man to 105 years in prison with all but six years suspended on charges related to an inappropriate relationship with a young girl.
Anthony Aaron Pyle, 50, was originally charged with 12 counts — including solicitation of a minor “by electronic means” and indecent acts with a child — after the victim, now an adult, came forward in 2024. She reported that Pyle began sexually abusing her when she was 15 years old, with the conduct continuing for about six months.
Pyle entered into a plea agreement last September, pleading guilty to six charges, with six additional counts not prosecuted at the time. He is to serve six years of the 105 year sentence — five consecutive 20-year sentences, each with all but one year suspended, and one five-year sentence with four years suspended — according to the plea agreement. When released, he will serve 20 years of probation.
During the sentencing hearing, the victim, now 24, described the lasting impact of Pyle’s actions.

She said she met Pyle through his daughter, a classmate, when she was 15. According to her statement, Pyle was aware she had an “unstable home situation” and exploited that vulnerability. She said the abuse continued for months before she told him — in order to make it stop — that her father had found out.
“Even though things happened in 2018, it’s stayed with me to this day,” the victim said on the stand. “I can’t trust anybody, I’m still working on that.
“He knew better … and I’m glad I got justice for myself,” she said. She agreed when asked that she supported the plea agreement.
Before he was sentenced, Pyle apologized “for everything the court has been through and my actions.” Judge Dennis Hupp said he should redirect that apology to the victim.
“Well, the apology should be made to her, of course,” Hupp told Pyle before Pyle turned slightly and faced the victim, saying, “I’m sorry for everything I’ve done.”
