Alex Sharp VII, real estate broker and former member of Rappahannock’s Board of Zoning Appeals and Water and Sewer Authority, paid over $50,000 in back child and spousal support last week, avoiding jail time for contempt of court, according to circuit court documents.
In August, Rappahannock County Circuit Court Judge James P. Fisher ordered Sharp, who lives in Washington, to pay the $50,278 sum, an accumulation of missed spousal and child support payments outlined in a divorce decree, or report to the RSW Regional Jail.
Sharp was found in contempt of court for not making any “good faith” payments before his court appearance, and given a little over two weeks to pay the sum, upon which the order to report to the jail would be revoked.
