The NAACP Culpeper Branch, which includes Rappahannock County, hosted a lively Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, filling Yowell Meadow Park with music and laughter. Juneteenth, celebrated officially on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed fresh food, sweet treats, activities and a large selection of vendors and community organizations.

“Thank you, Culpeper,” said Rev. Adrian Sledge, Juneteenth committee chairman, as he addressed the crowd, commenting on the great turnout and support from the community.
