Storytelling Contest

In partnership with The Rappahannock News, nonprofit news organization Foothills Forum created the Storytelling Contest for students in grades 7-12 who live or attend school in Rappahannock County. The Storytelling Contest was started in 2018 to strengthen the younger generation’s interest in and knowledge of why the stories in their own community – the important work journalists do every day – are valuable and should be told. Responding to a prompt, contestants may submit a story in writing, a series of drawings, photos, audio or video or a mix of these methods. Judges select winners in three age categories and more than $2,200 in prize money is awarded during a public ceremony. Entries are recognized in a special Rappahannock News publication both in print and online.
