Update: Due to the expected snow storm, Board of Supervisors Chair Debbie Donehey delayed Monday’s planned Board of Supervisors meeting until Wednesday, Jan. 8.
Representatives from All Points Broadband will appear at a Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday evening — the company’s first in-person appearance since the supervisors approved the contract in 2021 for a county-wide fiber buildout.
On Monday, supervisors will have the opportunity to ask All Points questions directly. County Administrator Garrey Curry said he does not know whom from All Points will attend the meeting.
The All Points presentation is currently scheduled for 7 p.m. at the county courthouse. Due to a hazardous weather forecast, the meeting could be postponed until Wednesday, Jan. 8, Curry said. “I have alerted [All Points] that the meeting date might slide,” he wrote to the Rappahannock News.
Residents should stay tuned to the county website home page that will display an alert if there is a change, as well as the county’s Facebook page and the county’s BoardDocs page. All of which will convey whether a delay is deemed necessary.
“Based on the current forecast, a delay seems like a real possibility, but we are still three days out and the forecast could change,” Curry wrote.
All Points CEO Jimmy Carr told the Rappahannock News and Foothills Forum in a Dec. 9 interview that a regional broadband project promising high-speed internet in Rappahannock and seven other counties will be delayed by one year.
All Points is reporting no completed construction to date in Rappahannock County — the project, which was awarded funding in 2022, was initially scheduled for construction completion in Rappahannock and the other participating counties by mid-2025. Now the updated timeline shows completed construction by June 2026.
Residents interested in attending the meeting can also tune in via Zoom. The link can be found on BoardDocs.
