Rain and cold temperatures did not stop residents and visitors from enjoying the festivities at the annual SperryFest last Saturday.
Sperryville Community Alliance President Kerry Sutten said it was “sheer joy” to watch the community “pitch in and show up, rain or shine.
“Vendors are telling us they had great sales,” Sutten said. “The food was delicious, the kids were happy, and the ducks raced well. We are proud of our green initiative, which helped reduce waste and raise awareness.”
He continued: “I, personally, have a simple measure of success. One mother emailed to tell me her son got in the car on Saturday and said, ‘SperryFest is always the best day of the year.’ Another mother wrote that before bed the past two nights, [her son] commented on how much fun he had and asked why it had to be a whole year before the next duck race.”
